Welcome Autumn!~ Day 87

It has been raining softly and continously for two days here and our temperature has dropped down to 39 degrees.

Fall is definitely here for us! :)

It also means that our RV camping adventures will end soon and our faithful traveling house on wheels will be resting in milder winter climate of Georgia until next Spring.

Good bye summer fun and hello winter!

We are ready for the next phase of life...

Teddy and I, even have our winter coats out with the new season for our daily walk.
My walking partner is ready with his raincoat on.
Very cold on Lake Erie in Vermilion
There is a special sense of gladness to welcome Autumn here, after a long hot summer.
Thank you, Mother Nature! :)

James, our Teddy Ber and I just love our Spring & Summer days here this year!

Our days continue here as we enjoy sleeping in on this rainy day with no plans and no rush to get out of our little RV love cave in the woods and near the water.

Hot coffee is still brewing and breakfast was delightful on this cold fall Saturday, to enjoy another dimemsion of the good life.

Happiness is NOT... ~ Day 86

What "WAY OF LIFE" are you living today?

Don't wait to be happy when...
You GET...that promotion, that new car, that degree, that relationship, that job, that retirement day, that engagement ring, that perfect wedding, that bigger house, that perfect body, that someone's acknowledgement, that certain amount in the bank, that vacation, that fame & fortune, that baby, that right dog or cat, that right husband or wife, that new kitchen or bathroom, that expensive shoes or designer outfit, that new computer or that latest toy.... and the list goes on....

We carry our own version of this list in our heads, consciously or subconsciously!

These "destinations" are a false -sense of happiness that rob us from being happy, EVERYDAY!

Be happy with what you GOT, right in front of you, one day at a time,  my friends! :)

I Don't Do Laundry~ Day 85

"Where have you been, little lady?" asked, the Tattoo man in the laundry mat.

Today, I was doing my first BIG load of laundry in a public laundry mat ...BY MYSELF!!!! Woohoo!
Very intimidating to face these BIG machines by myself today!

Yes, I can say I’ve been around the world and back but I just never been to a laundry mat BEFORE I met my second husband, James.
That sounds very odd to say it today!

I guess I've lived in a bubble all my life after I came to America. I am blessed to have a sheltered life in certain areas of my life.

But, there are "NORMAL" things, I have not experienced before…like doing laundry in a public laundry mat. Yes, for real!
So, this is how's done!
As a child, folding clothes were my chores so I never really learned how to do laundry. I grew up with a full time adopted Mom at home before their divorce. As I went to college and on my own, I just sent my clothes to the dry cleaners to do my laundry for me, down to my undies.

I didn't know anything different when I got married to my first husband. I sent all our clothes to the laundry and even, press and starched his jeans!
Doesn’t everyone do that???  :)
I was still in my bubble!

When I married James, a father of four and a typical all -American family man, he said he likes and he does all of his family's laundry. WHAT?!
That was just down right weird to me. LOL ha-ha
My husband was prepared with plenty of coins in his laundry bag
But, it's true! He said, he liked to help out his ex-wife with four kids on some of the family chores and he found that doing laundry was enjoyable for him and to relax, even theraputic from the stresses of his corporate job.

So, James continues to do all our laundry at home or at the laundry mat whenever we travel. My husband is the head of our laundry department but today; he asked if I could do it. Yikes!

I felt intimidated to do it without him and to go to a laundry mat,  by myself!!! Double Yikes!….
I found my corner table with a plug  for my laptop to do my blog while my laundry was being washed and dried! Not so bad! :)

The first time I ever stepped into a laundry mat was when we rented a RV to vacation along California's Hwy1 Coastline with Jerry & Lauren as a new family in 2004. It was then that we went to a laundry mat and I watched James, teaching Jerry how to do laundry. It was an endearing sight!  I was too busy with my 8 year old daughter to take part in it but I knew how important that lesson was for a 15 year old boy to learn from his father.

Ever since then, I never went into another laundry mat until this summer, living in an RV.  We have a washer & dryer in our RV but “it’s easier & faster to do them at the laundry mat,” my family's laundry expert claimed.

At least, I didn’t turn his whites into pink or got bleach marks on his work shirts, today! Whew! Woohoo!
Of course, I couldn’t say NO to him but I was nervous with my new laundry challenge today. And I DON'T do laundry!

With many phone calls to my husband's office and asking strangers in the laundry mat for few more tips, I accomplished my laundry task! :) Woohoo!

Meeting nice, friendly and very social laundry buddies.
I was nervous and intimidated to say the least, but now, I am very proud of my accomplishment, thank you! :)

Finished my laundry & my blog! LOL... ready to head home!

So proud that I accomplished our family laundry today, I texted my husband to say " I hope you don't mind wearing pink underwears and have a few white spots on your work shirts, honey." :) JK

Okay, so my husband is STILL the head of our laundry department but now, at least I can say I did it ONCE!! :)

Name That Pumpkin ~ Day 84

I am out and about today on a perfect Fall day in Cleveland!!!  :)
I just love the cool weather here as the leaves are changing their colors all around us, including these scary pumpkins to set you up for Halloween. That is, if you like Halloween. I never liked Haloween because it is too scary for me. We don't participate in the Halloween traditions at all.

Scary & Ugly Pumpkins!

I couldn't help but to stop by my favorite family farm in the country before heading to the city, to capture all these pumpkins in season. We've enjoyed our fresh produce all summer but I don't know how to cook these guys to be as excited about this season.

It's a family farm that sells only what they grow so it's so FRESH!!!! Just love living close to them this summer!

They harvest each day, fresh from their fields

I have never heard of some of these pumpkins...   Can you name these pumpkins?...

Amazing Day!!! Amazing fun to look at these unusual pumpkins at the farmer's market! :) I've falling in love with this area for its fresh produce, country roads and farming fields all around us.

Nana Hai Got in Trouble! ~ Day 83

Every morning, we would get two little energetic boys jumping on our bed for our wake up call.

It was on Friday morning that Nana & Grandpa decided to sleep in.
We knew we needed to catch up with some zzz's after a few restless nights and with 2 hours difference in our Eastern and Mountain time zone.

We heard our door slowly open several times that morning before the house fell quiet when Avery and Charlie went to school. The Grandparents were rested and ready for another day of being helpful.

Avery came home after school with a note to show Nana what he did at school that day.
On Friday, they have a free choice to draw or  to write.

Avery decided to write a letter to Nana as his school project.

Well, I think Nana got in trouble!  But NOT Grandpa Gus though.. . now, that's not fair!  lol :)
Avery sounds out his words and writes it down as he hears it...

Avery unfolded his letter and read it to me, and then he gave it to Nana to keep so I would not forget.
He wrote:
"Nana Hai, ( NUH)"
"Nana Hai  I miss you. Why did you sleep in. I really miss you.  Love, Avery."

He even pointed out that his teacher read it and stamped today's date on it for his class assignment for
September 22, 2011.

Yikes! Nana got in trouble!:) LOL hahahha... I love it!!!  :)

OMGOSH.... What such lovely, sweetest words! It is the BEST letter I have ever gotten from anyone! :)

Avery writes!

I accepted my sweet letter from our Avery .  I am keeping it forever in my heart! :)

Of course, Nana Hai promised not to sleep in anymore after that! :)

The next morning, we got our wake up call at 7:30 AM on a Saturday from our two bundles of joy. We had the best morning and we all were ready to watch Avery play soccer and off we go for a full day of fun! :)

Sunday came and we had our morning sweetest wake up call again and we decided to build a camp fire outside with our coffee so his Dad can sleep in!

Living with two active boys, sleeping in is a luxury for any parents! BUT....we sure are missing our sweetest wake up calls, this week! :(

With Love & our sweetest wake up calls,

Our Two Boys and a Baby! ~ Day 82

It's a rainy Monday in Cleveland that brought back so many fond memories of our two boys and a baby in Ft. Collins.

We, as grandparents Swansons,  are back to our normal lives but we are missing our Avery, Charlie & Baby Penelope! :(

The joy of being Grandparents... Like Penelope's outfit said, "WHAT'S THERE NOT TO LOVE?"

Here's our Rocky Mountain " High" on our 5 days and 4 nights trip, filled with love and kisses!!!

The boys are getting so big! With backpacks and ready for school!

While Baby Penelope is being adored at home!

Hanging out & floating on her clouds...
Penelope enjoys her baby walks...

The BOYS eat so well & Nana loves that they like springrolls!

Charlie loves to eat!I just love to watch him eat with GUSTO!

Charlie can put on his own shoes now!

Avery can write now too!

Love comes so natural for the young ones!

Charlie & Avery... boyz will be boyz....

Helping Grandpa to build a camp fire for our morning coffee in their backyard

Nana is enjoying her coffee with EXTRA sugar on both sides!

Our best morning with extra love, coffee, camp fire in our PJs!

Avery, our oldest in their cool tree house!

Charlie, our fearless in the tree house too!

The boys vs. Grandpa

Chef Charlie was making Nana's breakfast! Yummm!

All the boys are naturally flocking around Penelope, already! :)

A proud Grandpa Gus...

...with all his grandchildren by any names...! :)

A FUN Grandpa who LOVES ice cream treats!

Charlie understands, "It's Okay to Play", said on the piano!

Children bring LIFE to our lives and remind us, that "it's okay to play!" As adults, we tend to forget!
We are so, so, so, blessed to have our Avery, Charlie & Penelope to remind us all, how to play!

We miss you and we love you all in Ft. Collins!!! sniff, sniff...

With Love & Play,

Hai
